Education and capacity building have always been a part of the HQCA’s mandate, and fit with our strategic framework to build capacity, including enabling high quality and safe patient care by assisting stakeholders at multiple levels to develop skills in system improvement – key to this is our quality and safety education program, our Centre for Collaborative Learning & Education (CCLE).
Collaborative learning – our focus is on teaching healthcare providers with various roles in the health system about quality and patient safety all together – we have pharmacists, nurses, physicians, allied health and quality and safety professionals all learning together
Collaborative education – our courses have been successful because of our strong partnership with the University of Calgary Faculty of Medicine’s W21C and Office of Continuing Medical Education & Professional Practice
- Provides quality and safety education for various target audiences including healthcare workers and students and will continue to offer quality certificate courses with the University of Calgary Faculty of Medicine’s W21C and Office of Continuing Medical Education and Professional Practice
- Influences educators and stakeholders in organizations that have a role in training healthcare providers in quality and patient safety concepts
- Partners with patients and families to build capacity for participation in quality and patient safety initiatives
- Offers online modules and education opportunities to support ongoing development and learning
